Looking to put a little something extra in your Venmo payment? We have some ideas!
Payment Notes
When you make a payment on Venmo, you need to include a payment note. Typically, this can be a quick description of what the payment is for. There’s a 280 character limit for these notes. You can also tag other Venmo users in the note to keep other friends in the loop – you and your payment partner just need to make sure your privacy settings allow the other user to see the note first.
Emojis
We have a bunch of custom emojis that help celebrate events, outings, and other fun things you might be up to. Occasionally, you might see us partner with a brand or business to bring you a unique set of emojis too. These emoji aren’t a part of the Unicode consortium, so you’ll only see them on Venmo and Venmo payments sent through iMessage.
If you have an idea for a new emoji for Venmo, you can email emojis@venmo.com.
Can I turn off emojis on Venmo?
You cannot turn off custom emojis specifically but you do have the option to turn off emoji autocomplete:
- Go to the Me tab
- Tap the Settings gear in the top right
- Tap Emoji
Giftwrapping
You can gift wrap your payment to your friend. When the recipient opens the gift, they’ll see a special animation of your choosing. Just tap the Gift icon when you‘re making the payment. We have a variety of options for different occasions, so be sure to pick the one that fits best.
