Personal QR codes on Venmo FAQ

How QR codes work on Venmo

Your personal QR code is connected to your Venmo profile and can be used in a few different ways:

  • Show your "Venmo me" QR code to help others easily navigate to and pay your Venmo profile
  • Use the "Show to pay" QR code to pay with Venmo in-stores at participating businesses

You can also scan someone else's Venmo QR code to go to their profile and send a payment or request.

Scan another user's QR code

Venmo needs access to your device's camera in order to scan QR codes. You can enable camera access for Venmo in your device settings.

To scan a QR code from another Venmo user, open Venmo and tap Scan at the top of your screen.

When you center the camera over the QR code, you’ll be taken to that user's profile page – no need to tap!

If someone shared their QR code image with you, tap the photo icon at the bottom of the scanner page to use a saved image from your device.

Share your Venmo QR code

You can find your Venmo me QR code in the Venmo app with these steps:

  1. Go to the Me tab
  2. Tap the QR code button on your profile picture
  3. Tap Venmo me

Your Venmo QR code will show on your screen and can be scanned with another user's Venmo app or device camera to take them to your profile. You can also tap the share button to send the code using email, text messages, and more.

Troubleshooting

If you are having trouble with your QR code, please try some of these steps:

  1. If you can’t scan, make sure that Venmo has access to the camera
    • For iPhone: Settings > Privacy > Camera and enabling camera for Venmo
    • For Android: Settings > Applications > Venmo > Permissions and enabling camera for Venmo
  2. Make sure that you are connected to the Internet
  3. Check to see if you have blocked anyone
  4. Contact the friend you are trying to add outside of Venmo
