When you sign in to Venmo from a new device, we may send a verification code to the phone number on file with your account. Entering this code correctly helps to confirm that you are the account owner. If you can't access a code sent to your old phone number, try signing in from a device you've previously used to access Venmo.
Please do not create a new Venmo account with your new phone number. You can only create one account per individual, as outlined in the Venmo User Agreement.
Once you're able to sign in to your Venmo account, follow these steps to update your phone number:
- Navigate to your Settings
- Click Profile (or tap Account, then Phone Number in the Venmo app)
- Enter your new phone number and save it
You should then receive a verification code via text message. Enter the code to confirm your ownership of the new phone number.
Never share your Venmo verification code with anyone else. Venmo will never ask you to provide your six-digit code on a phone call, text message, email, or chat.
