How can a merchant refund me for an in-store QR code purchase?
If a merchant needs to issue you a refund for a purchase you made with an in-store QR code, you can show them the refund barcode on your email receipt from Venmo. The merchant can also refund you for a purchase via a physical receipt or cash. Specific refund policies are determined by the merchant and not Venmo.
How long does a refund take?
The timing for a refund depends on the policy of the business you purchased from. We recommend that you contact the merchant if you have questions about the timing of your refund. If you still can’t find your refund in your Venmo account or the payment method used for the purchase after the merchant’s refund timeline, feel free to reach out to Venmo Support.
Will refunds be credited to my Venmo account or my card?
Once the merchant has issued your refund it will be sent to Venmo to be processed. In some instances, refunds will be credited to the same payment method that you used for the original purchase. In most instances, your refund will be credited to your Venmo account.
To check which payment method you used for the original purchase, navigate to the Transactions tab in your personal transactions feed (the “$☰” icon to the right of your friends feed) and tap on the individual purchase. If the refund is sent to your Venmo account, it will be issued to you by Venmo Credits and it will be visible under "Your stories" and "Transactions".
