How transfers work
When you initiate a standard transfer on Venmo, we'll send the money to your bank account through the Automated Clearing House, or ACH. These transfers typically complete within one business day, but can take up to 3 business days to reach your bank in some circumstances. Weekends and U.S. bank holidays are not included in this timeframe, and may cause delays.
Transfers are reviewed, which may result in delays or funds being frozen or removed from your Venmo account. Learn more about Reviews of Transfers Into and Out of Venmo.
You can check the estimated arrival date for your transfer in your personal transactions feed, through either the Venmo app or website. Transfers cannot be canceled or expedited.
Transfer timeline delays
Standard bank transfers typically take 1 to 3 business days to complete. Some factors can cause delays in when your transfer reaches your bank, due to how the ACH processes transfers. Consider the following:
- Transfers initiated after 7pm ET on a weekday will not be processed until the next business day
- Transfers initiated on a weekend or holiday also will not be processed until the next business day
These delays will push the start of your transfer timeline to the first business day following the date you initiated the transfer.
For example, if Monday is a bank holiday and you initiate a transfer on that day, your transfer will begin processing on Tuesday. This means that the first day you could expect to receive your transfer would be Wednesday.
I should have already received my bank transfer, but I don’t see it. Where is it?
Transfers may occasionally post to your bank statement on a different date than the one estimated in the app, so be sure to check the surrounding dates as well. For a standard transfer, look for the note “VENMO-0 CASHOUT” on your statement.
If you still don’t see your transfer in your bank account after three full business days (considering any potential delays like weekends and holidays), it's possible that your bank account information was entered incorrectly or your bank won't accept the transfer.
