Can you cancel my bank transfer?
Once you successfully initiate a transfer, it can’t be canceled. This applies to all types of transfers on Venmo, including standard transfers and instant transfers. If you receive confirmation that your transfer was successful, it will be sent to the bank account or card you selected.
If you want to put money back into your Venmo account, you can add money with a bank or card.
Where’s my bank transfer?
After you start a transfer successfully, you’ll see a green check mark confirming that your transfer has begun.
If the money from your bank transfer hasn’t arrived yet, you can do the following:
- Check the status of your transfer in the Venmo app.
- Instant transfers may show as pending - It can take around 30 minutes for the transfer to complete
- It's also best to check the last 4 digits of the bank or card used for the transfer, so you can confirm where the funds were sent
- Standard transfers can take up to three business days to arrive in your bank
- Instant transfers may show as pending - It can take around 30 minutes for the transfer to complete
- If your transfer shows as completed on Venmo, check your bank statement or contact your bank.
- Instant transfers will appear as an original credit transaction (OCT) or a real-time payment, not an ACH/ direct deposit
- Standard transfers are sent as ACH deposits with the note “VENMO-0 CASHOUT” and may be back-dated up to two days earlier on your statement
If your transfer is neither with Venmo nor your bank, it’s possible that the transfer is still being processed.

Why is my Instant Transfer less than I expected?
Instant transfer fees are deducted from each transfer amount. For each transaction, the minimum fee is $0.25, and the maximum fee is $25, so you’ll have to keep these amounts in mind when transferring.
You can look at your personal feed in the Venmo app to see the actual transfer amount and that the fee was applied. If you need to transfer less than $0.25, our Standard Bank Transfer option is free to use.
Why can’t I complete my bank transfer?
There could be a couple of reasons why your bank transfer could not be completed:
- There may be a restriction on your Venmo account that is preventing the transfer
- Your debit card or bank account may not be eligible to process the instant transfer
- The information you entered when linking your bank account doesn’t match what your bank has on file
For bank accounts, double-check your bank information. If the existing information is incorrect, please remove your bank account and link it again
If the transfer still doesn't go through after you've attempted to troubleshoot, you can try these alternative options to transfer your money:
- Link an eligible debit card and try an instant transfer
- Link a bank account and try instant or standard transfer
- Get a Venmo Debit Card for direct access to your Venmo balance
- Close your account and request a check to be mailed to you
If you were able to request a transfer but it’s showing up as “Pending,” normally, it just needs some additional time to go through our internal review.
