How can we help you?

Business and Charity Profiles PIN Authentication

How do profile Passcodes work?

As a business profile or charity profile owner, you can create a secondary Passcode to limit who can access your personal and business or charity profiles from your Venmo app.

You can also create a Passcode to be used whenever Venmo is opened on your device. Learn more about setting up a Passcode/Face ID for your Venmo app.

Creating a Passcode for your profiles can help keep your information private, especially if you have trusted employees who may need to use your device and access your business or charity profile in person. With a Passcode enabled for your personal profile, you can have some peace of mind while your team collects payments or donations at your next event.

If you choose to enable a Passcode for your profiles, you’ll be required to enter that Passcode anytime you open Venmo or switch between your profiles. You can opt to enable a Passcode for either one of your profiles, or both of them.

Passcodes are unique to each device, so you may need to enable this feature again if you use more than one device to access your Venmo account.

  • Note: If you have Face ID or a similar biometric passcode enabled on your device, this will be used first, in place of your Passcode. If Face ID fails, you’ll be required to enter the Passcode for the profile you’re trying to access.

When you re-open Venmo after leaving the app, you’ll be brought back to the profile you accessed most recently. If you’ve enabled a Passcode for that profile, you’ll be asked to enter it before you can proceed. You’ll also be able to toggle to your other profile instead if needed.

Profile Passcodes are disabled when you sign out of Venmo. To re-enable a Passcode for your Venmo app and profiles, you’ll need to turn the feature back on after signing in.

How can I create or update my Passcode?

Follow these steps in your Venmo app to get started or to reset your Passcode:

  1. Go to the Me tab by tapping your picture or initials
  2. Tap the Settings gear at the top of your screen
  3. Select Face ID & Passcode (iOS) or Passcode & biometric unlock (Android)
  4. Tap the toggle to enable or disable the Passcode feature
  5. Create and confirm your Passcode

Note: Profile Passcodes are disabled when you sign out of Venmo. To re-enable a Passcode for your Venmo app and profiles, you’ll need to turn the feature back on after signing in.

If you forget your Passcode, you'll need to uninstall and reinstall Venmo on your device.

Can I create multiple Passcodes for my profiles?

No. When you enable Passcode and Face ID for Venmo, we’ll only ask you to create a single Passcode. You’ll use the same Passcode (or Face ID / biometric unlock) to access your Venmo app and switch between your profiles.

What if I use multiple devices?

Please note that profile Passcodes are unique to your device. If you use more than one device to access your Venmo account, you will need to enable this feature on each device.
