Can I use Venmo to pay friends and family in another country?
Starting early 2026, Venmo users and PayPal users will gain the ability to pay each other across platforms. This option will become available in the U.S. first, with additional global markets to follow. On Venmo, you’ll be able to search for PayPal users by their phone number, and you’ll appear in PayPal results too.
You can manage your privacy settings for Venmo and PayPal to change your visibility.
Are there any fees to send international payments on Venmo?
International payment fees may apply for money sent internationally. Any fees will be shown up front before you complete your payment, so there’s no surprises. If you're sending a payment that involves a currency conversion, the currency conversion rate will be shown to you in advance. This rate typically includes a spread.
I need to cancel an international payment I sent with Venmo
Most Venmo payments are made right away, so there’s no way to cancel them. Cross-border payments (payments sent to recipients in a different country) of at least $15 can be canceled within a short period of time. If you need to cancel a cross-border payment, please contact Venmo Support within 30 minutes of initiating the payment.
You can also email internationalpayments@venmo.com outside of servicing hours with the following information:
- Transaction ID
- Sender’s Name
- Address
- Phone Number
Please note that the email must be sent within 30 minutes of you sending the payment and before the transaction is completed to be eligible for a refund.
You will not have the option to cancel a transaction if the transaction is already completed, or if the funds can't be reversed. In such cases, you’ll receive confirmation of the completed transaction via email. For more information, you can refer to the Venmo User Agreement.
