Can I make my teen's account visible to anyone in search?
Yes! For Teen Accounts with app access to the Venmo app, you can decide if you want your teen’s profile to appear when other users enter their name or username into search. Follow the steps below to make your Teen Account searchable:
- Go to the Me tab
- Tap the down arrow next to your name in the top left-hand corner
- Select the Teen Account
- Select Manage Settings
- Select Search Visibility
- Toggle Allow teen to be visible in search
Please keep in mind that Teen Accounts are hidden from other user searches by default. You will need to change your Teen Account’s search visibility settings for it to show up in the search results. Teen Accounts will populate in search for any users accepted as a friend of the Teen Account on Venmo, regardless of the search setting.

I don’t want my teen to have access to the app, can I give them the debit card?
To provide a more meaningful product experience we will no longer support Teen Accounts that do not have access to the Venmo app. All owners of Teen Accounts will be required to provide their teen’s phone number and set your Teen Account’s privacy settings.
Teens will be able to create their own login credentials using their phone number to access the Venmo app.
How do others send a payment to my Teen Account?
Your Teen Account can receive payments through scanning the Teen Account’s QR code or by sending a payment to the phone number or email linked to the Teen Account.
By default, Teen Accounts are not searchable by users who are not their friends and are only visible in the search results of accepted friends on Venmo. To have your Teen Account searchable by name or username, you must change your search visibility settings.
