Once you've created a Venmo Teen Account for your teen, you can manage some features from your own Venmo app. Learn more here.
Resend the Teen Account app invite
Invites expire 60 days after they have been created. If your teen needs a new invite, just open your Venmo app and follow these steps:
- Go to the Me tab
- Tap the dropdown arrow at the top of the page (next to your username)
- Select your Teen Account
- Under Overview, tap the option to invite them to complete setup
Make your Teen Account visible in Venmo Search
By default, Venmo Teen Accounts are hidden from in-app search results for users who are not their Venmo Friends. This means that Venmo users who are not Friends of your Teen Account cannot locate the Teen Account by searching their name or username in the Venmo app.
Teen Accounts can still be located and paid by non-Friend users on Venmo, either through their QR code or from a direct link to the Teen Account on the web (ex: venmo.com/username).
If you want others to be able to find your Teen Account in the Venmo app, follow these steps to enable search visibility:
- Go to the Me tab
- Tap the down arrow next to your name in the top left-hand corner
- Select the Teen Account
- Select Manage Settings
- Select Search Visibility
- Toggle Allow teen to be visible in search
Learn about how your teen can get paid on Venmo.
Activate or deactivate the Venmo Teen Debit Card
Once you receive the teen debit card in the mail, you can activate it on your linked Teen Account in the Venmo app. Here's how:
- Go to the Me tab
- Tap the down arrow next to your name in the top left-hand corner
- Select your Teen Account
- Tap Overview
- Tap Activate debit card
- Enter the card's expiration date, then tap Continue
-
Create a PIN for your teen, tap Create
- Make sure it is something they will remember when making purchases
- Confirm the PIN, then tap Activate
If you need to lock the Venmo Teen Debit Card, you can do so from the Overview screen. Look for "Temporarily disable card" and tap the toggle. This will disable the card for purchases until you re-enable it.
Add money to your Teen Account
Any payments or direct deposits sent to your Teen Account will go to the Teen Account's Venmo balance.
To manually add money to your Teen Account balance, you can also send a payment. Just follow these steps:
- Go to the Me tab
- Tap the down arrow next to your name in the top left-hand corner, select your Teen Account
- Tap Pay or request
- Tap $0 to input the amount, and don’t forget to add a note
- Tap Pay
The money you send will be available in the Teen Account balance right away, so your teen can make purchases and send payments when they need to.
View monthly statements for your Teen Account
You can view and download your Teen Account statements in the same place as your personal account statements after signing in on Venmo.com:
- Use the dropdown menu at the top of the page to select which profile you want to view statements for
- Use the other dropdown menu to select the date range you want to view
You can download your transaction history as a CSV file by clicking the “Download CSV” button. Statements are available in one-month or quarterly periods, depending on account activity, going back three years.
Alternatively, you can view your Teen Account transaction history in the Venmo app by heading to the Teen Account and selecting Transactions. If there are any specific transactions you'd like to look at, tap the magnifying glass to start a search.
