Adding a Credit or Debit Card


To add a card to your Venmo account from a computer, click here and click "Add Debit or Credit Card" then add your card information.

If you’re in the app please follow the instructions below:

  1. Tap the "" icon in the upper left hand corner of the app
  2. Under “Settings”, tap “Banks & Cards”
  3. Tap “Add Debit or Credit Card” and add your card information

Once you add the card, you can set it as your primary funding source in your Settings → Banks and Cards.  

Please be aware that transactions funded by credit cards are subject to a 3% fee on payments sent in Venmo (this does not apply to payments made using Venmo in our partner apps). For more information please see this article.

If you’re having trouble adding your credit or debit card to Venmo, the best thing to do is reach out to your card issuer to confirm that there are no issues. Often times a card being declined from added will be related to a recent zip code or address change - your card issuer should be able to tell you more.

Note: You cannot transfer funds from your Venmo balance to a card. To do this you’ll want to add a bank account.
