Important notes on closing a Venmo account
Be sure to move any money remaining in your Venmo account before closing it, as you'll no longer have access to those funds once the account is closed. You have a few options to move your money in Venmo:
- Transfer the money to a bank account or debit card
- Send the money to another Venmo user
- Return a payment back to the sender
If you have any pending transactions on Venmo, those will need to be completed before your account can be closed.
Once your Venmo account is closed, you’ll receive one final transaction history message to the email address on file with your Venmo account.
How to close a Venmo account
To close your Venmo account from a computer, sign in and go to your account settings, then click Close my Venmo account at the bottom of the page.
You can close your Venmo account from the app by following these steps:
- Go to the Me tab by tapping your picture or initials
- Tap the Settings gear
- Select Account under Preferences
- Tap Close Venmo Account
I have a personal Venmo account and a business profile. Can I close one of them without closing the other?
You can close your business profile without closing your personal profile. If you close your personal profile, your business profile will also be closed.
If you wish to close only your business profile, you’ll need to contact us. There are a few important things to keep in mind when making this decision:
- Business profiles are permanently deleted when closed — they can’t be reactivated
- You won’t be able to create a second business profile tied to your personal account
- A new business profile representing the same business entity can’t be created
