Looking to close or deactivate your Venmo account? Read our guide on how to close your account here.
To close your Venmo account, sign in and go to your account settings from a computer browser, then click “Close my Venmo account" at the bottom of the page.
You can also close your Venmo account in the app by following these steps:
- In the Venmo app, go to the "Me" tab by tapping your picture or initials
- Tap the Settings gear in the top right
- Select “Account” under “Preferences”
- Tap “Close Venmo Account”
If you wish to close only your business profile, you’ll need to contact us. Once you close your business profile, Venmo cannot reactivate it. You also won’t be able to create a second business profile associated with your personal account. Please note, you have the ability to close your business profile independently of your personal account.
You’ll need to transfer any funds in your Venmo account to your bank account before deleting your account, or return the funds to the sender. Any funds remaining in your Venmo account at the time you close your account will not be available to you without contacting us again.
Please note, closing your account will not automatically transfer funds to your bank or return them to the original senders. If you have any pending transactions when you attempt to close, you will be prompted to address those before closing your account. Once your account is closed, you’ll still receive one final transaction history email to the email address on file with your Venmo account, in compliance with federal regulations.
Keep in mind that you’ll need to be logged in to close your account. If you need to, you can reset your password and log into your account.
