Not yet! While we hope to make Venmo available internationally, Venmo is only accessible within the United States at this time.
What mobile operating systems is the Venmo app compatible with?
Venmo is only able to support Apple iOS 13 or Android Lollipop (API 21) or higher devices at this time.
Where can I sign up?
To be able to use Venmo, you must be in the United States, and have mobile device capable of accepting SMS messaging. You can create a Venmo account right here on the web at venmo.com, or you can download our app from the App Store or Play Store depending on your device, and create your profile.
Why does it say my phone number or email is already on file?
It’s possible that you may have already created a Venmo profile and simply need to sign in. If that is the case, you can use your email, phone number or username and password to log into your account. Still not able to log in? Check out this article for more details and next steps.
Do I need to add a debit card at sign-up?
To help you get the most out of your Venmo experience, we sometimes give you the offer to add a debit card when you create your Venmo account. If you don’t want to add a card right now, or if you want to add something other than a debit card, you can tap “Not now” or “Try later” instead. If you decide to add a payment method later, just go to the Settings menu to get started.
Why am I being asked to provide my legal name?
Venmo is a federally regulated money transfer service, so there are times when we need to verify the identity of our users. We collect your legal name when you sign up so you can get a head start on the identity verification process, which is primarily what this information is used for.
We understand that you may not use your legal name or want others to see it on your profile, so you’ll also be able to use a display name of your choosing on Venmo.
