What does it mean to market my business on Venmo?
Venmo’s business profile settings are designed to manage your marketing preferences. It will help spread the word about your business to the Venmo community. Depending on your preferences in your business profile Settings, we’ll market you in Venmo feeds, searches, and emails.
Venmo wants to help you maximize your presence with existing and potential customers. These features are designed to let people know who you are, and where your business excels. You can toggle this functionality on or off from your Settings menu.
What if I have privacy concerns?
As a business on Venmo, you’ll have full control over your marketing settings. You can disable any or all of these five features individually.
Venmo is constantly trying to improve the experience of our users, including business profile account holders. These features are designed to draw attention from existing and potential customers, and ultimately increase your sales.
If you’d rather disable these features, you can toggle them off after selecting Market your business on Venmo from the Settings menu of your business profile.
Are these marketing features available for personal accounts?
At this time, marketing features are only available to business profiles and charity profiles.
See this article for more information on how to create a business profile.
What do these marketing features do?
There are five features that can be selected independently:
- Search: Turn this on if you want your business to appear in search results on Venmo. If you’re the top business result for a customer’s query, we’ll include additional details like photos you’ve uploaded and the names of any friends who’ve paid you.
- Feed: Enable this for payments sent to your business to appear in the feed
- Email: Venmo can send emails and notifications to people showcasing your business profile information
- Use business address for marketing: Toggle this on to display your business address in search results, emails, and in Venmo users' feeds
- Market beyond physical location: If your business isn’t limited by your geographic location (e.g., you ship goods to your customers)
What is this email I received?
Venmo sent this email to inform you that your business profile is eligible to be featured in the feed. We’re providing you with an opportunity to check your business profile settings to ensure you approve of being featured in our feed.
If this is not something you are interested in, please head to your marketing settings, and turn off the toggles for both Feed and Use address for marketing.
What is the benefit of being featured in the feed?
Being featured is a terrific way to set your business profile apart from other businesses and sellers on Venmo. You can use featured business posts to show local Venmo Users your products or services in the feed. This feature will give you the opportunity to be discovered by local buyers that may not know about your business.
Can I post on my own feature or edit a feature that has been shared?
Venmo wants to make sure that featured posts are as informative as possible, so they stand out from payments in the feed and spread the word about your goods or service to potential buyers.
Currently, we do not have a way to create or edit a business profile post. Featured business posts are created from your business profile, which can include your marketing settings as well as your profile and background photo.
I do not want to be featured in the feed. How do I turn it off?
If you prefer to not be featured in the feed, you can opt-out by logging into your business profile and selecting “Marketing your business on Venmo” from the Settings menu. To completely opt out of being featured, you will need to turn off the toggles for both Feed and Use address for marketing.
How does Venmo create the post?
Venmo wants to make sure that business feature posts contain as much information as possible and can stand out from transactions in the feed.
Business profile feature posts are generated using both profile and background photos, creating the images you see on the feature. We’ll use your selected location and marketing settings to share these features with local Venmo users, so potential buyers can discover you.
