Opening a Dispute

Venmo Debit Card transactions and online purchases cannot be disputed or reported as unauthorized in the Venmo app. If you are unable to dispute a specific transaction in the app, please contact our Support team to file the dispute.

To reach the Venmo Support team, go to Me > Settings > Get Help > Chat With Us in your Venmo app and ask for an agent.

You can dispute most types of Venmo transactions in the Venmo app. To help with the dispute, please make sure to answer every question with as much detail as possible:

  1. Go to the Me tab
  2. Select the transaction you want to dispute
  3. Tap Need Help?
  4. Select the statement that best describes your situation
    • To include other transactions, select Add more
    • After selecting your transactions, tap Add
  5. Tap Next
  6. Add any additional information
  7. Tap Submit Issue
  8. If prompted, reset your Venmo password
