Splitting a purchase

After making a purchase, you can use Venmo to split the cost with others by having them pay you back. Splitting a purchase on Venmo will send a charge request to the users you want to include.

Follow these steps in the Venmo app to split a purchase:

1. Go to the Me tab
2. Tap Transactions
3. Select the purchase you want to split
4. Tap Split
5. Select the users you want to include in the split
   • You'll be included in the split by default, but you can tap You to remove yourself
6. Tap Next
7. Factor in any tips or surcharges you want to include in the split amount (or skip this step)
8. Adjust any amounts requested from each person, then tap Next
9. Enter a note
10. Tap Review Requests
11. Review your request details, then tap Send Requests

You can find pending requests that haven't been fulfilled at the top of your personal transactions feed. Once the recipients accept your request, the money will be sent to your Venmo account.

Check the status of a split request

To check the status of a request, follow these steps in the Venmo app:

1. Go to the Me tab
2. Tap Transactions
3. Review any requests under the "Pending" section

From here, you can delete the request or remind the other person, which will send them a new notification about your request.

Requests must be completed by the recipient in order for the money to be sent to your Venmo account.

Sharing a purchase

If you want your Venmo friends and other people to see your purchase, you can share it to the feed from your Venmo app. When you share a purchase, others can see the name of the merchant you paid, but we'll always keep the amount private to you.

Follow these steps to share a purchase in the Venmo feed:

1. Go to the Me tab
2. Tap Transactions
3. Select the purchase you want to split
4. Tap Share
5. Enter a note or description that you want others to see
6. Tap Share in Feed
