Want to send a gift card using Venmo? Check out this page for some helpful info.

 

Why am I not seeing the option to order a gift card? 

Gift cards are currently available to most of our users, and we are actively working on making them available to everyone. For a smooth experience, make sure your app is on the most up-to-date version of Venmo. 

We may not be able to offer the ability to send gift cards from time to time. This can be due to security concerns or other factors. 

 

What gift card can I send on Venmo? 

A running list of active gift card offers is available inside the Venmo app. You can view these active retailers by starting a gift card payment.

 

How can I send a gift card? 

Start by heading to the Venmo app. You will be able to see the maximum and minimum for each gift card during the selection process. 

Here’s how to send a gift card:

  1. Tap Pay/Request
  2. Search and select the User you want to send the Gift Card to
  3. Enter the amount of the gift card, don't forget to add a small note 
  4. Tap the Gift Icon
  5. Select the type of gift card you want to send and the design
  6. Preview and review your gift card 
  7. Tap Purchase gift card 

Your animation will appear in your feed once the receiver has claimed the gift card. 

 

How do I view my gift card?

You got money! You can track your gift card's balance in the Venmo app while using it with the merchant. 

Here is how to view the app:

  1. Go to the Me tab
  2. Select Wallet 
  3. Select your gift card
  4. When you are finished viewing, tap Continue 

Here, you will be able to see the personalized note, gift card number, and pin for your gift card. 

 

I bought a gift card, but the recipient didn’t receive it.

Once a gift card is sent, it will be available to view in the Venmo app. Have the recipient of your gift card double-check their app for a gift card by following the steps below.

  1. Go to the Me tab 
  2. Select Wallet  
  3. Select your gift card 
  4. When finished, tap Continue  

You will want to make sure that your recipient is on the most up-to-date version of the Venmo app. If your recipient still isn’t seeing the gift card, please have them reach out to us, and we will be happy to help.

We are here to help the recipient with any questions they may have. Please keep in mind that gift cards are non-refundable.

 

How can I cancel a gift card? / I accidentally sent a gift card to the wrong person. 

Virtual gift cards sent through Venmo are like cash. Once another Venmo account receives it, there is no way to reverse or cancel the gift card.

 

How can I delete a gift card from my wallet?

Once your gift card balance is at $0, you will be able to delete the gift card from your wallet in the app.

How to remove a gift card with a $0 balance:

  1. Go to the Me tab
  2. Tap the gear icon 
  3. Select Payment methods
  4. Select your gift card
  5. Tap Remove
