The Organization Accounts product beta has ended, and we’re no longer accepting new Organization accounts. If you have an existing Organization account, you can still access it from venmo.com/organization-accounts.
Can I create a new organization account?
Venmo’s organization account beta has ended, and it is no longer possible to set up new organization accounts. While this beta has ended, you can explore Business Profiles and Charity profiles.
If you created an organization account before the product beta ended, you can continue to manage it from a web browser at venmo.com/organization-accounts

What are the roles for an organization account?
Organization accounts have two separate roles:
Organization Owner
The owner is responsible and personally liable for all activity performed by the organization. There can only be one owner per organization, and this person can:
- Add/remove managers
- Add/remove payment methods
- Utilize all other Venmo features (send/receive money, view transaction history, etc.)
Organization Managers
Managers can move money, but they can’t edit organization settings. There is a maximum of three managers per organization, and each of these managers can:
- Send money from the organization account balance and payment methods previously added by the owner
- Send charge requests from the organization account
- Transfer funds from the organization account balance to a bank account previously added by the owner
- View transaction history
- See the last four digits of every payment method connected to the organization's account, along with the bank name or card provider
- Utilize other Venmo features
What does it mean when you say "the owner is responsible and personally liable for the organization account?"
If something goes wrong with the organization account, we need to know who to turn to. Because of this, every organization account has to have an owner who is responsible and liable for all activity performed under the organization account. This means that the owner will have to pay us back if the organization account ever incurs a negative balance.
Who can pay my organization account?
Anyone with a Venmo account can make payments to or receive payments from an organization – you don’t need to add people to the organization in order for them to transact with it.
If you'd like to make it easier for people to find your organization, you can ask them to send a friend request. Learn more about adding and removing friends.
How do I transfer ownership of an organization?
Only the organization owner can transfer ownership of an organization. The new owner must also have verified their identity with Venmo. If you are the organization owner:
- Sign into the organization account on the web
- Go to Settings
- Go to People
- Click Leave Organization
- Enter the information of the user you want to transfer ownership to
This user will receive an email asking them to accept the transfer. If they accept, you will be removed from the organization. If they decline, you will remain the organization owner. Any imported funding sources on the account will be unlinked from the organization account when the owner leaves.
Why can’t I access my organization on my mobile app?
In order to create the best experience, Venmo Organization Accounts are only available on desktop and tablet browsers. To log into your organization account, visit venmo.com/organization-accounts on the web.
Can I use the same funding source for my organization account and personal account?
Yes, the organization owner can import a payment method that is already linked to their personal account:
- Sign into the organization account on the web
- Go to Settings
- Click Payment Methods
- Click Import payment method
What is my organization's sending limit?
Venmo Organization Accounts have spending limits that are tied to the organization owner’s personal account limits. Learn more about personal profile payment limits.
How do I leave an organization?
If you are the owner of an organization, there is currently no way for you to leave the organization other than by closing the organization account. Alternatively, you can transfer ownership of the organization to another manager and leave the organization once you’re no longer the owner.
If you are a manager, you can leave a organization:
- Sign into the organization account on the web
- Go to Settings
- Click Leave Organization
Once you leave the organization, you will not be able to make or accept payments on behalf of the organization.
How do I close/delete an organization?
Only the owner can close an organization account. To close a organization:
- Sign into the organization account on the web
- Go to Settings
- Go to Profile
- Click Close my Venmo Organization Account
Why can’t I add more than three managers to my existing organization?
Since managers can move money and change other attributes of the organization's account, we have limited the number of managers each organization can add.
How do I receive SMS, push, or email notifications about activity on my existing organization account?
Only owners of the organization account will receive email notifications about financial and social activity related to the organization account.
There are no SMS or push notifications related to organization accounts.
How do I change my organization account’s email notification settings?
Organization account notification settings are tied to their owner’s personal notification settings.
Owners can change their email notification settings by signing into their personal account on venmo.com and navigating to Settings then Notifications. Any change made to your email notification settings will impact both your personal account and organization account.
