What is Direct Debit?
Direct Debit is a convenient way to handle one-time and recurring payments using your Venmo balance. Direct Debit authorizes a merchant (or service provider) to initiate payments from your Venmo Balance account for things like utilities, subscriptions, or memberships.
These Direct Debit payments are set up and authorized on a third-party merchant's website or mobile app. Direct Debit payments occur over the ACH network using your assigned Bancorp account and routing number. When you enroll in Direct Deposit or open a Venmo Debit Card, you will be provided with a Bancorp account and routing number.
Third-party merchants or service providers may refer to Direct Debit payment transactions as ACH Debit or E-Check.
Where can I use Direct Debit?
Your Direct Debit information can be used anywhere your account and routing number can be added. The money will be withdrawn from your Venmo balance.
If there is not enough money available to cover the purchase, your transaction will be declined.

You will want to start by locating your account and routing number inside the app.
- Go to the Me tab by tapping your picture or initials
- Tap the gear icon in the upper right corner

I have a Direct Debit set up with a merchant. How do I change it to another payment method?
You cannot change where a Direct Debit transaction is being withdrawn from with Venmo. When using your account and routing numbers, money is withdrawn from your Venmo balance. To have these transactions processed using a different payment method, please contact the merchant or biller.
How can I stop my upcoming or scheduled payment from being processed?
If you want to cancel the subscription or product related to this Direct Debit, please get in touch with the merchant.
