How do I create a scheduled payment or request?
To set up a scheduled payment, you must ensure you have access to the Venmo app. Once in the app, follow the steps below to complete the setup.
- Tap Pay/Request at the bottom of the screen
- Search and add the person you want to pay or charge
- Enter an amount
- Tap Schedule
- Select your payment frequency
- Select an End Date or No End Date
- Tap Save
- Tap Pay
Review the screen and verify your payment or request is correct before tapping Schedule Payment. You will receive an email providing you with the details of your scheduled payment.
How do I edit or cancel my scheduled payments or requests?
You can make changes to your scheduled payment or request from right within the app. Follow the steps below to make updates to your payment.
- Go to the Me tab
- Tap Transactions
- Under Scheduled, tap View all
- Tap the payment you want to edit; once the payment is open, tap Edit
- Make your changes when finished, tap Update Schedule
These new changes will take effect on your next scheduled payment or request.
How do I change the backup payment method for my scheduled payment?
While creating your scheduled payment, you will be prompted to select a backup payment method you want this recurring payment to come from if there is not enough money in your balance.
If you need to change your previously selected payment method, follow the steps below.
- Go to the Me tab
- Tap Transactions
- Under Scheduled, tap View all
- Once the payment is open, tap Edit
- Tap Venmo balance or backup, select the new payment method
- Tap Update Schedule
Where can I see a list of all my scheduled payments or requests?
You can keep track of all your scheduled payments or requests within the app. Start by opening your Venmo app and follow the steps below.
- Go to the Me tab
- Tap Transactions
- Under Scheduled, tap View all
You can select the scheduled payment or request from here, review the details, or make any changes.
How long do I have to modify a payment or request/ When is the last time I can change my scheduled payment or request?
Any changes to your scheduled payment or request must be completed before 11:59 PM PT the day before your payment or request is due to process.
I set my scheduled payment, but it wasn't pulled from my bank until a few days later.
Using your bank account as a payment method can take up to 5 business days for the money to be processed from your bank.
If you want your payment pulled from your bank immediately, you can change your payment method to a debit card. This will cause the payment to be pulled from your bank right away.
I don’t want the scheduled payment to use my balance; how can I select my bank/card only?
If you’ve verified your identity, your Venmo balance will fund any scheduled payments for which the total amount of the payment is available in your balance during processing. While creating your scheduled payment, you will be prompted to select a backup payment method in case there is not enough money in the balance to cover your payment at the time of processing.
If you haven’t verified your identity when creating a scheduled payment, you will be prompted to select a payment method while creating your scheduled payment. Your scheduled payments will be funded by your selected payment method unless you verify your identity and have enough money in your balance to cover your payment at the time of processing.
