How do I earn cash back?

To receive cash back, you must activate each offer and then make purchases with your Venmo Debit Card while the offer remains active. Please note that some offers only earn cash back on the next purchase at that merchant while the offer is active, whereas others can earn cash back on multiple purchases while the offer is active. Each offer will specify this in the details when activated.

When will I receive my cash back?

The cash back you earn for each offer will normally be paid to you within 30 days of when you make the qualifying purchase. In some instances, this could take longer.

See the Venmo Rewards Terms for more details on the program.

Do Venmo Offers expire?

Each offer is available to be activated only for a limited time and is subject to availability. Offers are updated regularly, so be sure to check the Venmo app often to see the newest offers available to you.

After you activate an offer, you have a specific time frame to make the eligible purchase and earn the reward. This redemption period can also vary, so it’s important to review the offer details to see when it must be redeemed. Any cash back you earn from eligible transactions will never expire and will be added to your Venmo balance.

Where can I see the cash back I’ve earned?

You can see the cash back you've earned in your transaction history under a payment from Venmo Rewards. If you have notifications enabled for "Payment Received," you’ll get both an email and a push notification.

What should I do if I am missing my cash back or have received the wrong amount?

If you're missing cash back, here are a few steps to take:

  • Consider Processing Time: Most cash back offers are typically paid within 30 days. Customer support cannot expedite this process. For more details, review the Venmo Rewards Terms.
  • Verify Offer Terms: Ensure you meet the terms of the offer, including activating it before making the purchase. Check the offer details for any specific requirements about that offer.
  • Confirm Transaction Date: The purchase might have been processed after the offer expired. Compare the transaction date with the timeframe you activated the offer.
  • Check for Returns or Refunds: If you return an item or receive a refund, we'll adjust your cash back rewards accordingly to reflect the updated purchase amount. For example, if you earn 15% cash back on a $100 purchase, but then return $20 worth of items, your cash back rewards will be adjusted to reflect the new total of $80.
  • Review Cash Back Caps: Some offers may have a maximum cash back limit. Make sure to check the offer details to see if there is a cap on the amount of cash back you can earn.

If you’ve checked all these and still believe you are missing cash back, reach out to us for assistance.

Can I deactivate an offer after I activate it?

No, once an offer has been activated, it cannot be deactivated. You are not financially required to use the offer once it has been activated.

Activating an offer allows you to earn cash back if you choose to shop at the merchant. If you don’t shop at the merchant for an offer you activated, nothing will be charged to your Venmo Debit Card, and the offer’s activation will expire.
