Are there any fees for collecting donations on Venmo?
Venmo charity profiles will incur a low fee of 1.9% + $0.10 per donation. Learn more about fees for charity profiles.
How can donors find my Venmo charity profile?
For the fastest and easiest way to get donors to your charity profile, we recommend sharing your QR code. Just tap QR Code from your charity profile home screen to open your QR code.
Aside from scanning your QR code, donors can find your profile by searching for your charity name.
Donors who send public donations on Venmo will also have their donations visible in the feed for their network to see. Donations shared in the feed include your charity profile’s background photo and a direct link to donate to your charity as well.
Donors can also discover your profile when browsing available charities in their Venmo app. Donors can get to this page by tapping the search bar on the Home tab, then Make a donation. Here, they can search for charities by name or browse by category.
Are there any limits on the number of donations charities can receive?
There are no limits on the number or monetary amount of donations a Venmo charity profile can receive.
Are there any bank transfer limits for charities?
Charity profiles do have a weekly rolling limit for bank transfers. This limit has two parts:
- $100,000 weekly rolling limit on standard transfers to a bank account
- $50,000 weekly rolling limit on instant transfers to a bank account or debit card
Each bank transfer you make will count towards this limit for 7 calendar days.

How can I add a bank account to my charity profile?
To add a new bank account to your charity profile, you can follow these steps in the Venmo app (you may need to toggle to your charity profile first):
- Go to the Profile tab
- Tap the Settings gear
- Tap Payment Methods
- Tap Add bank or card...
From there, you’ll be able to add a bank account.
If you add a bank account, you can do so using your bank credentials or by manually entering your account number and routing number. If you use your account number and routing number, please do not enter the check number. Venmo will also send microtransfers to verify the account information, so please make sure you have at least $2 in your bank account to avoid potential overdraft fees.
Does Venmo send taxable donation receipts to donors?
Venmo does issue a transaction receipt for each donation you receive, but your charity is responsible for issuing an official written acknowledgment or tax receipt for charitable donations when applicable.
Once you start receiving donations, you can access your donor list by downloading an account statement from the Venmo website. You’ll find donor names and email addresses on your downloaded statement(s).

My donor is having trouble completing a donation
If donors are unable to donate to your charity profile, we first recommend checking your Venmo notifications to ensure that your charity profile is in good standing.
If you haven’t received any correspondence from us regarding the status of your charity profile, it’s possible that your donor’s connection timed out. If the issue persists after they try again, have your donor contact our Support team so we can take a closer look.
I need help refunding a donation
You’ll need to have enough funds in your charity profile’s Venmo balance in order to cover a refund, including the donation fee. If your balance can cover the full amount you want to refund, please contact our Support team with the following details:
- Date of the donation in question
- Donation amount
- Sender’s Venmo username
