Move money from your Venmo account to a bank account, with no fee. Learn about standard transfers with Venmo here.
About standard transfers
When you initiate a standard transfer on Venmo, we'll send the money to your bank account through the Automated Clearing House, or ACH. These transfers typically complete within one business day but can take up to three business days to reach your bank in some circumstances. Weekends and U.S. bank holidays are not included in this timeframe and may cause delays.
Transfers are reviewed, which may also result in delays or funds being frozen or removed from your Venmo account. Learn more about transfer reviews here.
You can check the estimated arrival date for your transfer in your personal transactions feed, through either the Venmo app or website. Transfers cannot be canceled or expedited.

Bank transfer limits
Venmo uses rolling weekly limits for bank transfers. This means that when you initiate a transfer, the amount of that transfer will count towards your overall limit for 7 days.
Your transfer limit is determined in part by your identity verification status:
- If you haven't verified your identity on Venmo, your transfer limit is $999.99 per rolling week.
- If you have verified your identity, your maximum transfer limit is $19,999.99 per rolling week.
- There is also a $5000 limit on individual transfers, meaning that users who need to transfer more than that amount must do so in increments of $5000 or less.
As noted in Venmo’s User Agreement, these limits may change from time to time at Venmo’s sole discretion.

Standard transfer vs. Instant transfer
There are two ways to get your money from your Venmo account to a bank:
-
Instant transfer to your eligible bank account or debit card.
- This type of transfer incurs a fee (deducted from the transfer amount for each transfer) and typically arrives within 30 minutes. Please see more information here.
-
Standard transfer to your verified checking account.
- This type of transfer is free and typically arrives within 1-3 business days.
All transfers in and out of Venmo are reviewed, which may result in delays or funds being frozen or removed from your Venmo account. Learn more about transfer reviews here.
Troubleshooting for standard bank transfers
If you were able to request a transfer but it’s showing up as “Pending,” normally, it just needs some additional time to go through our internal review.
If you're having trouble initiating or completing a standard transfer, there are a few things that could be causing the issue:
- There may be a restriction on your Venmo account that is preventing the transfer. Learn about what to do if your Venmo account is frozen.
- Your bank account may not be eligible to process the transfer, depending on the type of account you're using.
- The information you entered when linking your bank account doesn’t match what your bank has on file. Learn about what to do if there's an issue with your bank account.
You may have other options if a standard transfer won't work for you. Some alternative ways to get your money out of Venmo are:
- Link an eligible debit card and try an instant transfer
- Link a different bank account and try instant or standard transfer
- Get a Venmo Debit Card for direct access to your Venmo balance
- Close your account and request a check to be mailed to you
