Setting Up Visa+ on Venmo

Important update: Starting February 19, 2026, Visa+ will no longer be available for PayPal and Venmo transactions. Instead, you'll soon be able to send money directly between PayPal and Venmo accounts using a phone number—no third-party service needed. This feature is rolling out in the U.S. first, with more markets to follow. Customers will begin hearing about this coming change starting today.

Visa+ will no longer be available to new sign-ups as of February 19, 2026.

How do I deactivate my Payname?

You can deactivate your Visa+ Payname in the Venmo app with these steps:

  1. Go to the Me tab
  2. Tap the Settings gear in the top right
  3. Tap Send Money to PayPal
  4. Tap the toggle to deactivate your payname

If you deactivate your Visa+ account, you will not be able to reactivate it. When your Payname is deactivated, you will no longer be able to receive Visa+ payments. You will, however, be able to receive other Venmo payments.
