Why won't my payment go through?
A few common reasons for payments failing on Venmo are:
- Your bank or card issuer is declining the transaction (outside of Venmo)
- The payment attempt has triggered one of Venmo’s automated security flags
If you’re making a payment funded by a bank account, credit card, or debit card, reach out to your bank or card issuer directly (the fastest way to reach them is by calling the number on the back of your card). If your bank or card issuer is declining the transaction, Venmo cannot see specifics about the decline or override it.
You can also try using a different payment method for the payment, like a different card or bank account.
If you’ve checked with your bank or card provider, you can try making the payment again at a later time. If it’s urgent or if you continue to experience issues, try using a different payment processor like our parent company, PayPal.
