What are local deals?
Local deals highlight cash back reward opportunities with business profiles in your area and help support the Venmo ecosystem by enabling you to find local businesses right from your Venmo app.
To see local deals on Venmo, you’ll first need to opt into sharing your location with Venmo, from your device settings. Learn more about using location services with Venmo.
How do I find local deals on Venmo?
You’ll gain access to local deals from your favorite businesses after you follow their business profile on Venmo.
When you follow a business profile on Venmo, you can then save any deals that they create and redeem those deals by following the terms provided.
Deals you’ve saved will show on the Me tab in your Venmo app, under Wallet.
Following Venmo Business Profiles
What does it mean to follow a business?
Following a business enables you to see and save any local deals that they create. You’ll also get a notification from Venmo whenever a business you’re following shares a new local deal, so you can be one of the first to save and redeem it.
When you follow a new business, we’ll share your name with them.
How can I unfollow a business?
You can unfollow a business by navigating to that business profile in your Venmo app, and then tapping the “Following” button at the top of the page. This will stop you from receiving notifications about local deals shared by that business.
Saving Local Deals
How do I save a local deal?
To save a local deal in your Venmo app, tap “Save deal” at the bottom of the deal description. Saving a deal makes that deal show up in your Venmo wallet, so you can easily review the terms later if needed.
To see any saved deals in your wallet, look for the “Local deals” section and tap Go to your deals.
Can I un-save a local deal?
There isn’t a way to get rid of a local deal after you’ve saved it. Once the deal in question expires or reaches its redemption limit, it will disappear from your available local deals.
I saved a local deal but I can’t find it anymore
Local deals you save may expire or reach their maximum redemption limit before you’re able to redeem them. When viewing your saved local deals in the Venmo app, we’ll let you know if any of your saved deals are expiring soon.
Redeeming Local Deals
How do I redeem a local deal?
You can redeem a local deal after saving it to your wallet. Once the deal is saved, all you need to do is make a qualifying purchase with that business. You can do this by tapping “Redeem” on the deal itself, or by making a qualifying payment directly to the business profile.
Following a successful qualifying payment, you can expect your cash back reward to reach your Venmo account (as a new payment) within 24-48 hours.
I redeemed a local deal but haven’t received my cash back reward
Cash back rewards for local deals can take 24-48 hours to reach your Venmo account. In some rare cases, you may no longer be eligible to receive a cash back reward. This may happen if:
- Your Venmo account becomes restricted after making a qualifying purchase
- Your qualifying purchase is refunded prior to receiving the cash back reward
If neither of the above are true and at least 48 hours have passed since you completed a qualifying purchase, please contact our Support team with the following information:
- Details of the local deal you’re trying to redeem
- Date and amount of your qualifying payment
- Venmo username of the business offering the local deal
